Rotate Position Tool

This tool is used to rotate positions around pivot or around themselve.

These are this tool’s options

The rotation of a position influences the location of the position and its vectors .

The Rotation Reference section shows the kind of pivot you can select.
The “World Origin” option chooses the world origin as a rotation pivot.
The “Themselves” option chooses the positions themselves as a rotation pivot. Every position is rotated around itself. You can select “Position Base” if the rotation axes are relative to the position vectors.
The “Pivot” option chooses a specific position as a rotation pivot.

The Type of Rotation section shows the rotation plane.
XY rotates the positions around the depth (Z) axis.
XZ rotates the positions around the vertical (Y) axis.
YZ rotates the positions around the horizontal (X) axis.

Suppose you have the following positions:

The Y vector is pointed right. Suppose you want to rotate the vector so that the Y vector will pointed up.
The rotation, in this case, because you are in top view, will be around the world Y axis, so the Type of Rotation must be XZ, and since the positions do not have to be moved, the Rotation Reference will be “Themselves”.
Once you have selected the rotation type, drag and drop the mouse in any 2-D viewport (top, left or front) and the positions will be rotated:

*before rotation

*after rotation

Now suppose now you want to rotate positions around a pivot, for example the center of the 16 positions. In this case, you set a new position, called for example “pivot”, located in the center of the selected positions:

The position “pivot” is first created on the object, then moved to check the center.
To rotate the positions around “pivot”, select the Rotation Reference to “Pivot”, and select from the combo box the position “pivot”. After that, drag and drop the mouse onto any 2-D viewport (top, left or front) and the positions will be rotated around the pivot:

*another example

The “Position Base” option is used when you want to rotate a particular position around its axis. When this option is activated, if the position vectors will rotate around the designated vector of the position, and not the vector of the world
