Pattern Editor

In the pattern editor the following drawing tools are available:

  •  Selection
    Select a star. Selected star parameters are shown in the "Star Properties" frame and can be changed.

  •  Brush
    Draws a star for each mouse left click pression. Holding the left mouse button it acts as a brush.

  •  Line
    Left mouse click to select the line starting point, then drag the mouse out holding the left mouse button.
    A tranlucid preview of the line is displayed while dragging. Release the mouse button to confirm.

  •  Circle
    Left mouse click to select the circle diameter, then drag the mouse holding the left mouse button to select the desired diameter.
    A tranlucid preview of the circle is displayed while dragging. Release the mouse button to confirm.

  •  Polyline
    Left mouse click to select the start the polyline. Each mouse click is a polyline vertex.
    A tranlucid preview of the polyline is displayed. Click the right mouse button the confirm.

  •  Floodfill
    Left mouse click to fill the area with the specified stars.

  •  Eraser
    Left mouse click to erase a star. Holding the mouse button and dragging erases with the movement


Also, there are Tools to perform special operations such as:

  •  Save as Image
    saves the viewport display as an image on disk

  •  Open Image
    opens an image and applies it as background of the display canvas.
    It can be used as reference or automatically plotted

  •  Plot Image
    it scan the underlying image and try to match the colors with stars of the selected size.

  •  Pick Color from Image
    it captures the color from the underlying image

 

Some special visual aids can be activated to help the design

  • Display Grid
    it displays a square grid (size reflects the star selection)
  • Display Circular Frames
    it displays radial frames to reproduce the shell layout (size reflects the star selection)
  • Display Image
    Toggle the background image display (if any)
